Frequently Asked Questions

-If there is no school on a day, then the YBA does not practice that night at any facility including the community center.

-You cannot pick your coach or team; coaches cannot predetermine teams. YBA is run through a draft format to keep teams balanced, recreational, hopefully "fair," and to support interactions amongst the three elementary schools. The only guaranteed team players would be the child of the coach and assistant on the team. That being said, your child will absolutely be okay if their best friend is on a different team (sometimes it actually works out better) and they will meet new people.

-Games are generally on Saturday, starting as early as 8am and running through 5pm start times. Similar to above, no, we do not have a schedule for that yet. We need to see how many kids are registered in order to know the number of teams that go into the schedule for play at each grade.

Chatham YBA

The Chatham YBA oversees recreational basketball teams in Chatham, Illinois. The YBA holds recreational leagues for boys and girls grades K-8 in the Chatham school district.

Each season hundreds of Ball-Chatham students participate on YBA teams. Thank you to all the parents who volunteer to coach teams, the school district for its assistance and the local businesses that sponsor the league. Without your effort the YBA would not be able to provide the opportunities it does.
