It was a tale of two games for the Glenwood girls' sixth grade basketball team Tuesday night. The Titans White squad rolled to a 33-9 victory while Pana returned the favor in the nightcap, beating the Titans Red team 29-8.
In the opener, the Titans White overcame a cold offensive start to win. Glenwood opened the contest 0-8 from the field, but kept firing and led 9-5 at halftime. The Titans found their offensive rhythm in the third quarter, hitting 6-of-17 shots to take a 23-5 lead. Glenwood's defense harassed Pana all over the floor and the Panthers only managed one shot in the third quarter.
Emma Klemm-Glatz led the Titans with 13 points. Emily Hartley added seven points and six rebounds as Glenwood controlled the paint against the smaller Panthers.
In the nightcap, Glenwood went 1-for-13 from the field in the first half and never recovered. Pana led 6-2 after one quarter and 17-2 at the break. Abby Ryan provided what spark the Titans could muster. The forward tallied 6 points and hustled her way to a team-high 8 rebounds. Glenwood finished a frigid 3-of-36 from the field against the 1-2-2 zone employed by the Panthers.
